About & Affiliate Disclosure

My Pets Family publishes practical, evidence-informed guides for dog and cat owners. Here is how we create our content and how affiliate links support the site.

About My Pets Family

My Pets Family is an independent website for pet owners in the United States. We focus on everyday questions about feeding, treats and care, and we try to explain both the benefits and the real risks so you can make an informed decision together with your veterinarian.

How we create content

Each article is researched from sources such as veterinary organizations, government agencies, scientific literature and manufacturer information, and is drafted with the help of AI tools. We do not test products hands-on unless an article says so, and we do not present ourselves as veterinarians. Our priorities, in order, are accuracy, usefulness, trust and, last, monetization.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links on My Pets Family are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We participate in affiliate programs, including through CJ Affiliate (for example, Raw Paws Pet Food). Merchants do not pay us for coverage, and our editorial priorities put accuracy and usefulness ahead of commissions. Every article that contains affiliate links includes a visible disclosure.

Image
Raw chicken necks are not a necessary or risk-free food for dogs. They provide bone-derived calcium but carry bacterial, choking, dental and digestive risks; veterinary organizations advise caution with raw diets. Quick answer: Some dogs eat raw chicken necks, but that does not establish that they are safe or beneficial. There is no proven need to feed chicken necks when a dog already receives a complete, balanced diet. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) discourages feeding raw animal-source proteins because of risks to pets and people. Green Tripe for Dogs: Benefits, Risks & Feeding Guide

Image
It smells like a barnyard, it looks like something you'd throw away, and many dogs will walk away from their regular food to get it. Green tripe, the unbleached stomach lining of cows, lambs and goats, has a loyal following among raw feeders, who credit it with everything from better digestion to a stronger immune system. Lamb Lung for Dogs: Benefits, Risks and How to Feed

Image
Most healthy dogs can eat lamb lung as an occasional treat. It is a single-ingredient, high-protein snack made from dried lamb lung. The main things to watch are calories, the size of each piece, and bacteria, because drying is not the same as cooking. Keep all treats under 10% of your dog's daily calories. Best Pumpkin Powder for Dogs: How to Choose

Image
Pumpkin powder can be a convenient choice if you want to mix only what you need and keep the rest dry. But it is not automatically better or cheaper than plain canned pumpkin or a pumpkin pouch. The right choice depends on the ingredients you want, how much preparation you will do, and whether you can use or store the leftovers. Choose a plain powder if you want a simple ingredient list and do not mind adding water. Choose a pouch if skipping the mixing step matters more. Stick with plain canned pumpkin if it already fits your routine—you do not need to buy a dog-branded powder just because it exists. However, canine biology and evolutionary history tell a completely different, darker story. From an evolutionary standpoint, domestic dogs inherit survival mechanisms directly from wolves. In the wild, showing weakness or vulnerability makes an animal an immediate target for p...

Do DAP Calming Collars Work for Dogs? Evidence & Limits

Image
DAP calming collars may help some dogs, but evidence is weak and they should not replace a veterinary anxiety plan. Understanding the limits can help you decide whether a collar is worth trying without overlooking the support your dog actually needs. What is a DAP calming collar? What does the evidence actually show? Where does a collar fit into an anxiety plan? How to judge a trial fairly The BudgetPetCare option: what to check Everyday support and the bottom line AI-generated editorial illustration; not a photograph of the advertised DAP collar or evidence of its effects. What is a DAP calming collar? DAP stands for dog appeasing pheromone. These products use a synthetic analogue of a chemical signal associated with nursing mother dogs. A collar is designed to release it while being worn. That proposed mechanism does not, by itself, establish how much an anxious adult dog will benefit. The ADAPTIL manufacturer's instructions describe a collar activated by body warmth, with ...
